Join QDMA and keynote speaker, Dr. Craig Harper on Saturday, August 5, for a habitat day near the Maple River State Game Area. This full-day workshop will teach landowners to manage their own property for popular game species including deer, pheasants, wild turkey and waterfowl. The event will include educational sessions, demonstrations and tours of grassland, wetland and forest wildlife habitat. Lunch will be available to purchase from food trucks set up at the site. This field day will feature completed forestry management/wildlife habitat improvement projects such as: Timber Stand Improvement, early successional habitat development (young forests & small open area habitat development), forest stand improvement – mast (acorns, cherries, apples, hickory nuts and seed producers) tree release, invasive weed control, annual and perennial plantings (food plots) for wildlife, apple tree pruning, tree planting and other upland wildlife habitat management.
