View Full Version : RR Sugar Beets
Anybody ever hear if us food plotters will be able to get the round up ready sugar beets? I would like to give them a try some time.

I just saw online when searching for RR Alfalfa that somewhere had the RR Sugar Beets too!
Ok, found where it was. Not sure if you can buy them yet but here's the link to what I found.

Unless something changed when I wasn't paying attention (all the time lately) RR sugarbeets will not be available for foodplotters this year.

I planted them one year and they were AWESOME!!! But, we are not allowed to plant them at this point as stated by Stuart. I know a seed rep who has access to them but when I inquired about it he said you must be part of a licensed sugar beet farmers union (or something like that). I was hoping to go back door on it and get some but no dice.

I happened on a few pounds from a guy this year that I was able to buy. I bought him out of his remaining stock (about four pounds). I'll have to give them a try next year when I can get my soil just right.

A quick Google search and this is the latest I could find on the subject.

My understanding from that press release was that seed would be available for licensed sugar beet growers (like WJJ stated), but that's it. The only chance for small growers would be to do what Honker did...
