It's almost deer-gun season in Ohio, which means it's also a super-busy time for the hunting license folks at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Indeed, the Sunday before deer-gun season is typrically the peak day of the year for license sales.

Last year, Ohio sold 49,748 licenses on Nov. 30 alone. For the year, almost 450,000.

Hunting license and permit sales are strong the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, with the day before archery season being the second highest hunting license sales day with 47,807 sold in 2008.

The most popular place to get a hunting license? The Web. After than comes Walmarts in New Philadelphia, Marietta and Port Clinton. Then comes the giant Bass Pro Shop's Outdoor World here at Cincinnati Mall.

Ohio ranks eighth nationally in annual hunting-related sales and 10th in the number of jobs associated with the hunting-related industry. Each year, hunting has an $859 million economic impact in Ohio through the sale of equipment, fuel, food, lodging, etc., according to the ODNR.
