Hey guys, I'm new to Habitat Improvement and have a question about Hinge-cutting and deer beds next to food plots. Is there a certain "minimum" distance when creating deer beds next to foodplots? Were in the process of planting an acre plot and were thinking of adding Hinge-cuts and beds next to it. Thanks everyone.

I am sure there are more knowledgeable people on this site that will weigh in on this topic, but I would ideally keep a couple hundred yards between the beds and the plot if possible. This leaves you with a terrific opportunity to hunt the terrain between the beds and destination plot.

You can do some additional hinge cutting to further direct the deer between the bedding and plot, right by some well placed stands.

Now I am guilty of hunting destination plots from time to time, but we try to only do so under ideal conditions when we have a chance to harvest an animal that we cannot get another way.
