Farm Country Whitetails Branch Hosts Habitat Field Day

Farm Country Whitetails Branch habitat field dayIn April, the Farm Country Whitetails Branch hosted a habitat field day with special guest Erich Long of Drumming Log Wildlife Management. Erich is a QDMA Deer Steward III, as well as QDMA’s 2009 Al Brothers Professional Deer Manager of the Year.

Around 30 people gathered at a Branch member’s property to hear Erich talk about all the ways to provide the habitat whitetails need 365 days a year. His recommendations covered how to improve native grasses, old field habitat and forests for the benefit of deer and other wildlife, as well as how to improve the “huntability” of the property.

At the end of the day, attendees agreed that Erich provided a wealth of knowledge and did so in a way that was relatable and easy to follow and understand. The Branch hopes to have him back again at another field day.
