In recent years, numerous QDMA members expressed an interest in taking their knowledge to the next level, becoming advanced deer managers and hunters. QDMA responded by creating our Certification programs, including personal Certification (through the Deer Steward program) and property certification (through QDMA's Land Certification Program). Since 2007, more than 1500 have become certified Deer Stewards.
The Deer Steward program is a personal educational experience designed to offer landowners, hunters and natural resource professionals an opportunity to learn from the nation's top experts about QDM. At the end of this training, attendees can write and implement their very own property-specific deer management plan. QDMA is currently implementing the 2015 Deer Steward certification courses, and as it stands now, more than 1500 people have participated since the program began in 2007. If you'd like to become a certified Deer Steward, you have two main options. You can attend the in-person course with live speakers, or you can take the Deer Steward course online through the Web. In addition, starting in 2015, we also now offer the Deer Steward Modules where attendees dive into one particular topic (i.e. food plots, prescribed burning, predator control, etc.) that makes up part of an "umbrella" QDM plan.
Land Certification Program
The Land Certification Program (LCP) is a multi-level, voluntary process which will evaluate and certify one or more properties against an established list of QDM standards. Click here to learn more about the LCP.
