QDMA Hunt Club Insurance
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about QDMA/Davis-Garvin Agency Hunting Club Liability Insurance
What is the policy year for the Liability insurance and are the rates pro-rated?
The policy year runs from August 1 to July 31. The rates are NOT pro-rated. If you buy a policy mid-year, you will still be required to pay the full premium.
Does every member of my hunt club have to be a member of the QDMA?
No. The policy is structured so that the club representative will receive a membership to the QDMA, but individual club members are not required to purchase a membership. However, additionally insured landowners are required to purchase a QDMA membership under the policy guidelines.
Why does my landowner want to be named as an additional insured?
Most landowners will wish to be named as an additional insured so they will be covered in the event they are named in a suit caused by an action of the hunting club.
What are some of the exclusions of the policy?
The coverage provided in this policy is shaped by the conditions in the master policy. Some examples of exclusions include bodily injury or property damage arising from the use of vehicles, aircraft, pollution, workers compensation, assault and battery, intentional or expected acts, and commercial hunting operations.
Does a hunt club have to be a formal entity with bylaws etc. to participate?
No. Any assemblage of hunters can participate, but will need a hunting club name to identify who is included in the coverage.
Can a landowner take out the policy by themselves if they don’t actually lease the land for hunting, but allow friends and family members to hunt?
Yes, but they should be encouraged to establish a short written document outlining who can hunt and partake in other related activities.
Can commercial hunting operations take part in this program?
No. Commercial hunting operations or hunting operations on subleased properties are not eligible for coverage under this program. However, Davis-Garvin agency does offer a different policy for groups of this nature. (800-845-3163)
Explain fire legal liability.
This coverage does not cover structures on the premises. An example of a fire that the liability policy would cover might be a campfire that gets out of control. Refer questions concerning fire legal liability to Davis Garvin Agency.
