so it should be getting close. on my cameras i see no buck groups but all indivduals. its like they are checking to see what area or doe they mate. have one buck thats i see alot but have not seen him on cam in a few days. so when i see buck and doe together its probably getting close?

Default Ne LA Rut

Here in West Carroll Parish in NE LA it starts in mid Dec and goes on into Jan. Most of the mature bucks are run over on the highways around Christmas. Our gun season is only a couple of weeks and ends on Dec 9 and Muzzleloader runs Dec. 26-Jan 1. Our deer herd is probably the smallest in the state but most of the mature bucks weigh around 260. A friend of mine killed 10 pt last week weighed 315 (no Joke).

Interesting observations. I know some guys that swear that the rut is already over around here.

from the way it was last year, i killed three bucks and the first was dec. 10th, my second was dec. 17th, and the last was dec. 27th. i had put down some scent and the second one i harvested had his nose to the ground and doing some serious tracking. i fill this is when the rut was in full swing. i will do my best to be in the woods a lot starting next week. starting to see a lot of buck movement on my cams.
