Default 2011 Rifle buck

I shot this buck on opening day of our 2011 rifle season. I didn't have him aged but I figure he was 4.5 years old by his body size. I scored him at 135 5/8 gross. He came in at 10AM in 60+ degree heat following 4 does. The stand I was hunting is near one of our property lines and takes advantage of pressure from the adjoining properties. I shot a 4.5 yr old from this stand in 2008 and he came in on just about the same path.

I had a 400+ yard downhill drag that wasn't fun in the heat but well worth it. I was soaking wet once I got him to the bottom of the hill and then I had to walk back up to get to my truck! This is the 4th buck 3.5 years or older I've shot consecutively so I'm on a roll

Only trail cam picture we had of him. They sure look skinny in the summer. Too bad he broke off the right brow!

Not really fair to hang him on the wall next to an Iowa giant but it's the only place that is out of the way. He'll eventually hang at camp but he'll stay at home for a while.

Very nice. And 60deg is cold in some places, or at least not warm
400 yrd drag would be tough without the adrenalin.

I don't know how you guys live in that hot weather, I just couldn't do it. If it's above 40 in rifle season it's too warm deer movement generally grinds to a hault. If it never got above 70 all year I'd be happy
