What's the age of this buck? Just curious what people think. Sorry I don't have a pic that's a little closer to him.

If there is alot of farming there he might be 2 but VA is probably correct. He does have a short muzzle, the neck is full down to the brisket, and he has a little droop in his belly, what else are you guys judging his age on?

hes 3.5 yrs old

I'll go a little higher at 4.5 yrs old. He has well developed muscles as stated in a previous post. That tells you that he's well over 2.5 yrs old. No matter where you go in the country, agricultural area, forested area, etc., while body size may vary, body shape will still give you the clues to correctly age a buck within +/-1 year until they get older than about 6.5 years old. Body characteristics will change with the season (i.e. a 6.5 yr old buck will look different in the spring than in the fall when he's rutting). Fall pictures are what are used in illustrations of estimating ages of live bucks because that is the time of year when most people are out hunting them and when they are tyring to evaluate whether they should or should not harvest a particular buck. The QDMA has some good material avaialble to help people learn what to look for to estimate the age of live bucks in the field.

I'd go 3.5 as just a guess.
hopefully you'll get more pic of him.
Have you seen him in the field?
Is he a 10?

I have seen him in the field several times. I also have a video of him. He's a 5x6 with good width. He's a nice buck but the picture doesn't do him justice.

I am not great at judging age yet but I believe he is at least a 4.5 year old.

I can tell you for certain what his age would be if'n he was on my property and walked by me during legal shooting hours. Dead....smileys/smiley2.gif

After some further research from the bow stand, this buck has been determined to be a 3.5 year old.

I look forward to seeing him as a 4.5 year old ... "dead deer don't grow"!
