Is there any consistant coralation between a bucks weight and his age (between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 year olds) or does it depend on the buck. Talking about 2 deer shot within a mile of each other so no radical diet changes.

I suspect it varies just as much as people vary from one person to another. I have noticed that woods deer have more back fat and fat inside the abdomen than farm deer. The farm deer tend to weigh just a bit more and perhaps be a bit longer. These are about 60 miles apart as the crow flies.

In NJ its pretty consistent in the bucks we've shot. You get some freaks here and there but every 3.5 we've shot has been 140-150. I shot one, didnt age him, that dressed out at 190.
Thats a big deer for jersey. But i'd guess he was 3.5, maybe older. Should have aged him. Pretty consistent in NJ though. All of our 1.5s range from 100-115, 2.5 usually 115-130.
