View Full Version : Racoons

Does anyone know whether or not coons eat soybeans? I would like to plant some, but my dad coon hunts and I definitely don't want to draw any unwanted attention to my food plots! He doesn't purposefully hunt near them, but I figure if coons like'em they will be spending a good amount of time there.

They'll eat just about anything but corn is what they usually go after, they can murder a corn field in short order.
I would say soybeans are prettylow on their diet list...;)

Criggster, you're probably not going to have an issue with racoons in the soybeans. Like "Lickcreek" said, soybeans are low on their preference list and while the beans are on the stalk they won't be interested much at all. A racoon will raid a grain bin for some ready to eat beans if he's hungry and their convenient buy I've not seen them in the soybean fields.

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to make sure. There is no agriculture here for miles, so I'll probably plant them and see what happens.
